Braised Beef and Carrots (6 to 9 months)

Ingredients

175g/6 oz potato
225g/8oz carrots
175g/6oz stewing beef
300ml/1+ 1/2 pint/1 ¼ cups water
Pinch of dried mixed herbs

Method

1 Preheat oven to 180 C/350 F/Gas 4. Peel and chop potato, carrots and onion and place in ov enproof casserole dish.
2 Rinse beef and cut away any fat or gristle. Then cut into small cubes with sharp knife.
3 Add the meat, water and herbs to the casserole, bring to boil the cover and cook in oven for 1 ½ hours or until meat is tenders and vegetables are soft.
4 Pro cess or mash ingredients to desired consistency.
For variation replace the carrots with another root vegetable such as parsnip or turnip.
